All paintings, with just a few exceptions, were signed in this way.dt indicates painting was inscribed with year date.NamingIt would appear Turner named all his paintings. Generally with a name that captured the spirit of the theme. With the passing of time, some of these names have been lost. Some paintings have been renamed for sale. This has led to the same painting appearing under different names. “Faithful Friend” (1890) would appear more likely than the alternate name of “Pioneer with fledgling”. There are a number of titles using the word “Pioneer” - there is some doubt Turner would have referred to his subjects as “Pioneers”.A good example is “A Family Group Travelling Through a Wood” (1907) – the original title was more likely something like … “Walking Off”. It is a pity so much of the original naming has been lost. The majority of Turners works are in Oil on Canvas or Board.CLICK photo to enlargeSome Turners PrintsFirst Known Work1874 to 18831885 - 2 Pages18861887188818891890 - 2 Pages1891 - 2 Pages189218931894189518961897189819001901 - 2 Pages190219031904 - 2 Pages190519061907 - 3 Pages1908Undated 1Undated 2Undated 3Undated 4Undated 5Oil on TinWater ColoursPost CardsLithographs| Home | Biography | Picture Menu | Explore Detail | First Works | Prints | Post Cards | Shop | Contact Us | Copyright Usage |Peep into the past - Click any picture to enlarge.
