incorrect and 'appears' he is the same
J. Turner, photo-colourist.
McCulloch, Alan, Susan, Emily McCulloch-Childs. The New
McCulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art. 4th Edition, Aus Art
Melbourne & The Miegunyah Press, 2006. Page 969. A major art
reference work - the 4th, Edition gives the same information
(which appears to be inaccurate as to his marriage at least) as in
the first edition (1968).
Moore, William. Story of Australian Art : from the earliest known
art of the continent to the art of to-day. (Sydney : Angus &
Robertson, 1934.) - Damns Turner with faint praise (volume 1,
page 105) but provides no details of his life.
The historic value of
the detail in Turner’s
paintings becomes
more valuable as time
passes.
